Salary: £22,500 p/a
Hours: 35 per week
Based: Multiple locations, North East Scotland
The role
Our home energy advice team advisors provide free and impartial advice to householders on energy efficiency, including grants and funding, renewable energy, and sustainable transport. The support is offered in peoples’ homes and over the phone. We will attend events which you may be asked to attend. There will also be an element of working on our reception line, taking calls and booking in appointments for other advisors.
You will be part of a friendly and supportive team across a very busy service. We are target focussed and provide relevant but impartial advice to householders who make the initial contact with us. We do not cold call any household.
We offer an extensive and well-supported training programme which includes City & Guilds and SQA Qualification. This training does take around 6-9 weeks (and for this period you will need to be available between 0900 – 1700 Monday to Friday). This is to ensure you have all the knowledge and tools to provide the right advice to households across the North East.
We offer a hybrid approach to working, so you can work from home but there are options to work from either of our offices in Aberdeen or Dundee. There is an expectation to attend our office when requested to do so – for either a working day or in-person meetings. Due to travelling across your allocated area, we are looking for people who have a full driver’s licence.
Responsibilities of a Customer Service Advisor
- Provide impartial advice to householders and supporting events.
- Provide advice to customers on a wide range of topics to promote energy and resource efficiency, carbon reduction and fuel poverty programmes.
- Make referrals or signpost to partner organisations where appropriate to help customers access additional support.
Skills and qualifications
- Effective in the use of technology, relevant systems, and key software packages.
- Relevant customer service experience.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Responsibilities, qualifications, skills and additional skills are detailed in the job description, which you can find HERE.
Locations and working hours
The position can be either full time or part time (training initially must be full time). It is up to 35 hours per week, 5 days from 7. Our core hours are Monday to Friday 0900 – 1630.
Desk-based tasks can be performed at home, but we do offer a hybrid approach. When working from home you need a strong and reliable internet connection with recommended speeds of 10Mbps download and 4Mbps upload. You can test your home internet speed here.
We are seeking applicants who reside in the North East (as this is the 6 local authorities we cover – Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Dundee City, Moray, Perth & Kinross) and there is an expectation to work from Aberdeen and/or Dundee, when requested for either an office based work day or in-person meetings.
The post holder must be eligible to work in the UK. We are unable to offer relocation or visa service.
