Big-hearted staff from Scarf have raised more than £2000 for an Aberdeen children’s charity following a year of fundraising events.
Each year the team from Scarf’s two sites in Aberdeen and Dundee are asked to nominate a charity of the year to support, with Charlie House being selected for the financial year 2018 – 2019.
Throughout the year the team took part in the Great Aberdeen Run 10k, held a hotly-contested Bake-Off competition, organised a Quiz Night and a number of other activities as part of the fundraising drive.
Scarf Chief Executive, Thane Lawrie, handed over a cheque for £2000.19 to Kirsty Walker, Fundraising Coordinator at Charlie House at the company’s Aberdeen headquarters with further funds to come.
It has also been revealed that Scarf’s charity of the year for 2019/20 will be the Archie Foundation in Grampian and Tayside.
Ross Adams, Senior Programme Officer and Chair of Scarf’s Charity Committee, said: “We had great fun supporting Charlie House last year and we’re all really proud to have raised as much as we did. Each year our colleagues go over and above, coming up with new ideas for charitable activity and enlist the help of family and friends to raise as much money as possible.”
“We’re really looking forward to kicking off our fundraising efforts for Archie and have a quiz night in the calendar already as well as some other exciting ideas, which we hope will help us raise lots of money for another worthy cause.”
Susan Crighton, Director of Fundraising for Charlie House, said, “The Scarf committee have done an excellent job of fundraising for Charlie House this financial year. They came up with some great and varied ideas to enable the entire team to get involved. The team were so enthusiastic and a pleasure to have onboard as a corporate partner. The Scarf team also very kindly attended our Family Information Day at the Len Ironside Centre to provide energy saving advice and information to the families we support.
“The funds raised will go towards supporting babies, children and young people with complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions in the North-east of Scotland.”
Scarf was established in Aberdeen in 1985 and has grown to deliver energy efficiency project on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust and local authorities as well as initiatives all aimed at alleviating fuel poverty from two sites in Aberdeen and Dundee.
