The event was sponsored and hosted by Mairi Gougeon MSP who – with Kevin Stewart MSP – presented the prizes to the competition winners. The 13 winners, from schools in North East Scotland, drew pictures with an energy efficiency theme highlighting helping the environment and tackling climate change.
All the winning pictures were used in Scarf’s 2018 calendar, funded by National Grid, and will be distributed all round Scotland.
Mairi Gougeon MSP said: “It is a wonderful idea and a fitting reward to bring the winning pupils to the Scottish Parliament to receive their prizes. I commend the efforts of Thane and his team for making the young people of the North East aware of such a hugely important issue, not only to Scotland but the wider world.”
Kevin Stewart MSP said: “It is a pleasure to present the prizes for the 2018 Scarf calendar competition and see the hard work of each pupil to raise awareness of such a vital issue. Educating the younger generations to be energy efficient now will be key to tackling climate change in the future. It will also help them to live in warmer and healthier homes.”
